St. Andrews PSD Fire Station No. 3
Coast was selected to design this fire station—currently under construction—as a design-build with Trident Construction to replace the existing Fire Station #3 across Highway 61 from this site. Situated at the entrance to the Magnolia Ranch neighborhood off Parsonage Road in Charleston, SC, it was important to the Public Service District and the surrounding neighborhood that the building maintain a residential character. The 8,400 sq. ft. facility includes individual bunk rooms, unisex restroom facilities for the fire fighters and EMS personnel, a kitchen, day room, necessary office space, a three-bay pull-through apparatus bay, a fitness room, and support spaces. While being designed to appear more residential with a Lowcountry Vernacular, the bi-fold apparatus bay doors provide the traditional fire station look that was important to the Fire Chief.
